There and back again

Went away for the Golden Week holiday.
I saw this:

Actually I saw many of them. The Koi-nobori (flying carp) are abundant. They represent the children of the house and celebrate their growth into adulthood. That's the short version of the story.

That's an interesting symbolism — koi to represent children. And of course I'd like to know why :)

I like the graphic illustration style of this wind sock (? that's what it looks like).

Sorry I couldn't provide a link to Hacienda Isabella's website. I was able to visit it three weeks ago, but when I tried yesterday, it was gone. Seems they forgot to renew their domain name license!

It's way better than those silly meaningless flags people put up in the suburbs here...

What is mood of Rising Sun wif' North Korea flexin' ? (doan answer here--to heavy mebbe. But BACK Porch would love to know)

Love the whimsy of the Carp. Would like to see Japan have more babies--most grey society of all.
