Heaven's Gate

If you ride a bicycle for about twenty minutes in any direction you are certain to come across at least one of these. They are called Torii (鳥居) and they are the gatewys into Shinto Shrines. This one is on a beautiful road in a part of town called Kami Yo Nai (上米内)
If you want to see what a shinto wedding looks like, check out this PicPost

How lovely! It amazes me that a country as small and population-dense as Japan can still set aside many natural places of quiet contemplation. Happy Mute Monday!

I always knew that the gate to heaven wouldn't be pearly...what a lovely, serene image.

I love how their shrines are situated in such beautiful parks! Very serene and conducive to meditation.
