Hi folks! The gravestones are actually from families that have died out or simply forgotten.
In Japan almost all bodies are cremated. The bones and some ash that remain are mixed in with those of the ancestors. The Temples do not get rid of the stones yet since land is at a premium here they stack them up so that the plots can be transferred to another family.
Some places have truly enormous pyramids of family stones.
Pictures, even bad ones take a lot of effort. Most of the pictures on this page are mine. Feel free to use them so long as you display artistic credit and or a link to this site, thanks.
Almost all of the files I publish are quite large. Feel free to download and resize them to suit your needs.

It looks like there will be some changes around here soon, but I will continue with the Mute Mondays- They are a blast.
Excellent choice. Guess they don't have a lot of grave space there in China. Happy Mute Monday!
Glad to hear you will be sticking around for MM...it wouldn't be the same without you. Great MM!
Wow! Great image! Happy MM!
It looks like they are having a big Sale there on Tobacco Road, either that or that's one helluva mass grave :)
