Japan may produce a lot of cars, but these days I see more and more folks ridin around on scooters.This is a snapshot of a 50cc Yamaha Mate. It gets a gazillion miles per thimbleful and almost never exceeds speeds of 45mph. You got any of these zipping around your town?

I'm seeing a lot more scooters that the traditional Colorado Springs pick-up trucks these days...enough that we actually have a Vespa dealership in town!

I'm always embarrassed (don't know why really) to admit what my gasoline spending is on my Kymco People scooter when I'm talking to my car driving friends.
And where I live in Bermuda, the 35kph speed limit means 50cc is more than enough!
I saw a guy heading to a Halloween party driving one of these things. Unfortunately he was pushing 350 lbs and wearing Nacho Libre stretchy pants.
